Summer

Summer in the French Alps is a breath taking experience. The blue skies, beautiful scenery and clean mountain air make this a popular place to stay. There are a number of activities available during the summer months to suit all ages. Sainte Foy is an ideal base for many activities with its beautiful scenery and woodland area.

Walking & Hiking.

Sainte Foy has over 70km of footpaths offering exceptional walks, excursions with local guides, hiking, mountaineering and family walks. Sainte Foy borders Italy with many footpaths leading to mountain lakes and outstanding views of Mont Blanc. A few yards from the back door of La Soldanelle is the footpath which leads you to the beautiful old farming hamlet of La Monal. Old traditional farms- many still used in summer- dot the landscape with views of glaciers and if you're lucky you could spot roaming chamoise.

Climbing

Le Pre Climbing wall is in nearby La Mazure and has a south facing wall of 15 to 40 meters high for those of you who enjoy a challenge!

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is a very popular summer activity in the French Alps. Sainte Foy is in the center of some of the biggest Tarentaise resorts with nearby Tignes, Val d'Isere, Les Arcs, Bourg Sainte Maurice and La Rossier all offering bike hire.

Tennis

A tennis court can be found in the main village of Sainte Foy with court hire from 8 Euros per hour. For information call in at Santa Fe tobacconist.

Paragliding

Glide over the mountains with a qualified instructor and take in the breathtaking scenery at the same time. Truly an experience not to be forgotten. Alerion Paragliding School provides all the necessary equipment and instruction for a pleasant flight!

White Water Sports

White water sports are available for those who enjoy extreme sports. Rafting, hydrospeeding, canoe-kayaking and canyoning can be practiced on the river isere from nearby Bourg Sainte Maurice. All professionally run with qualified instructors.

Local Activities

Sainte Foy has a Savoyard Market on a Wednesday and Bourg Sainte Maurice a large market every Saturday. Many traditional festivals go on during the summer months with small communities getting together dressed in traditional costumes and playing music.
